Workshop Description

This is a 2-day intensive workshop meticulously crafted for those eager to train their eye and immerse themselves in the art of storytelling through photography. The workshop is designed to ease the anxiety next time you go out to shoot, guiding you to effortlessly compose impactful images in a split second. Above all, the workshop's aim is to nurture and develop the unique vision of each participant.

Each day includes on-field shooting and in-depth theoretical sessions, covering all you need to know about street photography – from the dos and don'ts to the nuanced compositional techniques, and typical errors to avoid. Participants will have the unique opportunity to shoot alongside Arpit Narain Saxena, giving you the chance to turn theoretical insights into practice. As participants navigate the sacred streets of Varanasi, Arpit will offer real-time feedback and guidance.

This immersive experience will also allow participants to closely observe Arpit's methodology, picking up invaluable tricks and techniques. During the sessions, participants will be encouraged to connect with people and frame them within their narratives. The workshop ends with a portfolio review session where participants will learn and discuss storytelling, crafting photo essays, and the significance of undertaking personal photography projects.

What to Bring

Participants are expected to bring their own camera equipment (digital or analog), along with the lenses they normally use. You should also come prepared with enough memory cards or rolls of film to cover the shooting sessions. A laptop is recommended for editing and reviewing images during the critiques. Since much of the workshop takes place outdoors, comfortable shoes are essential, and don't forget chargers, cables, and any necessary adapters.

In preparation for the workshop, participants are also required to submit a portfolio of their work before the start of the program (around 20 photographs). This portfolio will serve as a reference for the initial review and feedback session. Participants will also be encouraged to continue refining and sharing their images throughout the workshop.
